WHAT ARE SNS NAILS, ANYWAY?
First, SNS stands for Signature Nail Systems and it is a nail-dipping method used in salons and spas around the world.
It was first introduced to the world in the 1990’s according, but never really took off until recent years. People just didn’t understand the benefits of using SNS then.
The SNS Application Process
- STEP 1: Apply a gel base on your nails.
- STEP 2: Dip your nails in the dipping powder.
- STEP 3: Apply a layer of gel top to cover and protect your nail.
The SNS process is easy, fast, and the results look fantastic.
Oh, and it doesn’t smell so if you suffer from allergies or just don’t like the strong scent of nail polish, you’ll love it.
Of course we will cover the process in depth when we get to the part about applying SNS at home.

SNS VS. ACRYLICS VS. GEL NAILS
The questions of all questions. Which one is better, SNS, Acrylics or gel nails?
Lets take a look at the difference in the comparison table below –
As you can see, SNS pretty much beats the competition on any parameter. Its healthier, non-allergenic, stronger, more flexible and durable than acrylics and gel nails.
EXAMPLES – SNS NAILS
Just so you have an idea of what to expect when getting SNS nails, we thought it will be useful to share some pictures of them.
Beautiful, aren’t they? they look very natural and they feel light, unlike Acrylic where you can barely do the dishes with.
WHY GET SNS NAILS?
Here are some the advantages the SNS system has on other manicure methods.
1. Fast & Easy Application Process
Sns nails are super easy and fast to apply, it literally takes 3 steps. When applying SNS nails theres also way less drilling and the process itself is cleaner & more esthetic.
2.They Look and Feel Very Natural
Another huge benefit is that SNS nails look very natural and feel great. It doesn’t look as fake as acrylics and will feel much lighter on your finger tips.
3. SNS Nails are Strong, Flexible, and Contain Vitamins!
Sns nails are stronger than acrylic nails even though they feel much lighter.
The SNS powder also contains very important minerals and vitamins.
These vitamins are A,E,D, B5 and Calcium, thats known to help you get stronger, healthier nails.
These will strength your nails and make sure they won’t break easily.
4. Its SAFER than Shellac / GEL !
If you ever got gel nails, you know the part where they’ll make you sit under a UV nail light lamp in order for the materials to stick to your nails.
In a recent article on WebMD, it was stated that :
” … the cumulative damage from the light frequencies the nail lamps emit can cause DNA damage to the skin that can result in premature aging and possibly cancer.”
While with SNS, you won’t have to worry about premature aging and cancer or other side-effects, because theres no need in these harmful ultraviolet lights.
5. SNS Nails Dry FAST!
Other than the fact that you don’t need UV lights, nobody likes to spend their time sitting and waiting for their nails to dry.
You’re probably familiar with trying to swipe your iphone with your tongue because you cant use your nails [you dont wanna ruin that new polish, we get it!].
No more of that none-sense, as SNS dries instantly!
6. SNS Manicures Don’t STINK!
Yup, you read right! while other types of nail polish and manicures usually involve a strong odor of chemicals that make you want to faint or puke, the sns application process is odorless.
This especially matters if your sensitive to strong smells.
All these awesome benefits is what boosted the SNS trend recently, and it seems like everyone are getting them!
7. Over 400 Colors to Choose From
SNS offer dipping powders in over 400 different colors and shades, thats an amazing variety that makes sure we’ll never get bored with our nails again!
HOW LONG DOES SNS NAILS TAKE TO APPLY?
The SNS application process will take between 20-30 minutes max. Its super fast.
When getting a gel manicure you will have to wait an additional 10-15 minutes for the nails to dry (sometimes more) while while using the nail-dipping system, you skip that step.
If you’re in a hurry, we highly recommend picking the color of your nails in advance, that will save you a ton of time and you wont find yourself spending hours choosing the perfect color! (we’ve been there).
HOW LONG DOES SNS NAILS LAST?
SNS Nails will last you between 4-5 weeks. SNS nails will usually last you twice as long as a gel manicure.
We love how SNS nails are more water-resistance than other methods and tend to last longer. After all, who wants to get their nails done every 5 minutes?
That being said ,It really depends on your lifestyle. Obviously if you’re super careful you can make them last longer, but life happens…
HOW DO YOU REMOVE SNS NAILS?
To remove an SNS manicure follow these 3 steps:
1.Sand off and remove the gel-top layer from your nails
2.Soak your nails in Acetone for 5-10 minutes.
3. Simply wipe the powder off of your nails with a dry cloth.
Removing SNS nails is easy and quick, just make sure you don’t skip step number 2. The acetone will speed up the removal process and make sure there are no remains on your nails.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO GET SNS NAILS NAILS?
SNS manicure at a salon will cost you between $30-$50 per treatment. They are a little more expensive than gel or shellac, but totally worth it. They also last longer.
That being said, if you can’t afford to spend that amount of money on your nails, consider applying SNS nails at home, don’t worry, its not as hard as it sounds.
HOW TO APPLY SNS NAILS AT HOME?
Wether you’re trying to save a buck or just love doing your own nails, applying SNS nails at home is super easy.

SNS NAILS NEAR ME
Below you will find a map of nail salons that offer SNS Manicures near you.
If you have decided to get an SNS manicure in a nail salon, find the ones near you in the map above.
Before booking an appointment, here are some tips that will help you pick the best nail salon in your area.
Make sure you pick a salon with a high rating and try to look for previous customers pictures. You don’t want to go to a place where you could do a better job on your own.
Also make sure you look at their prices. Remember, an SNS manicure should cost you no more than $50 and thats on the high-end.
Some nail salons will charge you outrageous prices so make sure you’re dealing with an affordable one.
SNS vs Acrylic
Acrylic nails, are plastic tips that are glued onto your nails while SNS is a nail-dipping method.
Basically with sns you’re not adding anything onto your nail but dipping it in the powder.
Think of acrylic nails like hair extensions – you’re adding fake nails to your current Nails.
Theres really no “better or worse” when it comes to sns vs acrylic, it depends on your personal preference.
In recent years, SNS became a lot more popular than acrylic nails. The problem with Acrylic nails is that they are hard to remove and involve using harsh chemicals (the glue used). Even after you will remove your acrylic nails, you will have a hard time getting rid of this glue.
With SNS nails, you won’t have to deal with it, as the removal process is way easier.
THE BOTTOM LINE
By now you probably understand the advantages / benefits of getting SNS nails. SNS pretty much revolutionized the way women (and men) get their nails done.
The SNS process is healthier, faster and more efficient.
Furthermore, the results will last you for a longer period of time than older manicure methods, like Gel or Acrylics.
From customer reviews and personal experience, we highly recommend trying SNS at least once, we’re sure you’ll love the results!
There are literally thousands of possible combinations and styles you can create with SNS dipping powders, so go crazy!
